Agent Spotlight: Jennifer Schmidt

Helping and healing come naturally to Jennifer Schmidt. For 11 years, she has served her Idaho community as an Insurance Sales agent, but her time in the Treasure Valley area goes back 26 years, and extends much beyond her work in Insurance.

Jennifer puts herself in positions to help people whenever she is able. She volunteers every week with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, providing a variety of services for people that are less fortunate. Her approach towards assisting those in need mirrors her approach to helping families find the best insurance for their life.

“I get more out of volunteering than they think they get out of me. No matter whether you have a good day or a bad day, it just changes you for the better,” Schmidt said. “Honoring people and their personal needs, and taking the time to listen to people, is the biggest thing. When you listen to someone, when you really give them your time and are not in a rush, they can see who you are.”

Jennifer sees her role in the insurance process as an educational role as much as a sales position. All clients come to her looking for various ways to save money, but many have never had an open conversation about their personal situation with an insurance agent before. By putting insurance offerings in personal terms, taking the time to listen to someone’s circumstances and also explain how insurance can help them in their life, Jennifer exemplifies First Tech’s member commitment and social stewardship.

When she’s not at work, Jennifer heads outside into nature. She enjoys soaking in the many hot springs that dot the Idaho landscape, as well as walking the rivers, gardening, shopping and enjoying time at home with her family.
