.

Why?

.

Important Reminder:
While Zelle® doesn’t report your payments, you are still responsible for reporting any taxable income you receive—especially if it’s for goods or services 3

Personal payments (like gifts or reimbursements) are generally not taxable.

Important Reminder:
Even though Zelle® doesn’t send tax forms, you are still responsible for reporting any taxable income you receive through the platform. This includes payments for goods, services, freelance work, or business transactions.

Tip:

As of March 31, 2025, Zelle® only works between users enrolled through one of the 2,200+ participating banks and credit unions. If the person you're trying to pay isn’t enrolled with a Zelle® partner, they won’t be able to receive money through Zelle®.

Check if their bank is supported:
Visit zellepay.com/get-started to see if their financial institution is live with Zelle®.

Alternative options:
If Zelle® isn’t available, consider using other secure peer-to-peer (P2P) payment platforms like:

  • Venmo
  • Cash App
  • PayPal

These services also offer fast, secure transfers and may be better suited for recipients outside the Zelle® network.

Security Tip

Always verify the recipient’s information before sending money. Use trusted platforms and avoid sending funds to unfamiliar contacts.

Helpful Resources
